Catherine Gropper studied playwriting at The New School in NYC.An early New School classmate was John Kennedy Jr. He was a member of Naked Angels.
She studied directing under Evan Yionoulis at Yale and also with The Barrow Group.she earned her MA in philosophy from TC Columbia University.
She is a member of the Dramatists Guild. After successful runs of Embers in the British Isles and New York City and Miss Crandall’s Classes in Washington, DC, The Meeting:the interpreter had a world premier at the Theatre at St. Clements in 2024 and was directed by Brian Mertes.
An accomplished artist,exhibiting at Weintraub Gallery, NYC; Hokin Gallery, Palm Beach, Florida; Galerie Sculpture,Paris, France; she is creating new time pieces and paintings.
Her new play Rinsing Time; a revelatory accounting and take on mothers/daughters humor throughout lifetimes; an operetta musical about a renowned living songstress; and fundraisers, workshopping performances for human rights.
Her award winning films shorts and documentaries are being shown internationally.
Mute Voices is a documentary revealing the plight of mute swans and their intended eradication in NYState.
Gropper reveals various perspectives through Jane Alexander; Fabien Cousteau; Carl Safina.
Her poems will be published in an anthology in 2026.
I look for hidden revelations in my characters. What really is behind their motivations. I Trust Kandinsky was correct. In each of us is emotion of the soul.
